2000 Rustler 36
Plymouth
$99,359
Native price £77,500
The Rustler 36 needs little introduction. Designed by Holman & Pye, she is a true go-anywhere cruiser with a long-established reputation for ocean crossings and serious passagemaking. At the same time, the Rustler 36 also offers a reassuring and capable platform for safe coastal cruising, which makes her a very versatile yacht. ‘Dwynwen’ was commissioned in 2000 and has been carefully maintained by just two owners from new. Because of this consistent ownership, her condition reflects steady, knowledgeable care rather than short-term use. The yacht is rigged as a Bermudan sloop with a detachable inner forestay, which adds flexibility offshore. Sail handling is straightforward, with a fully battened mainsail, furling genoa, cruising chute, and storm jib. In addition, she benefits from lazy jacks, a Selden gas rod kicker, and a telescopic spinnaker pole, all of which support safe and efficient sail management. All running rigging is led aft through Spinlock clutches to Andersen halyard winches, which makes short-handed sailing far more manageable. Important recent upgrades include all new standing rigging in 2024, along with a full suite of new canvas, also fitted in 2024. This includes a sprayhood, mainsail cover, cockpit cover, and dodgers. As a result, both safety and comfort on deck have been significantly improved. Navigation equipment is comprehensive and well proven. Systems include a Furuno GP-30/35 GPS navigator, Furuno 1621 Mk2 radar, and Furuno FM-2721 VHF radio. These are supported by a Raytheon ST5000 Plus autopilot, linked to ST60 multi-function instruments for depth, speed, and wind. In addition, she is fitted with a Raytheon echo sounder and a Solent B.P.S.C. compass, providing reliable redundancy. Overall, ‘Dwynwen’ represents a well-balanced and properly equipped Rustler 36. Because of her design, rig, and recent upgrades, she remains well suited to offshore passages while still being comfortable and confidence-inspiring for everyday cruising. The yacht is currently afloat on the River Dart and available for viewing by arrangement. For further information or to arrange a viewing, please contact Paul in the Plymouth office on 01752 260086.
