1995 Bowman 48

The Bowman class needs no introduction. Famed for their legendary seakeeping qualities and build quality, they have been a favorite of the Bluewater sailor for years. The Bowman 48 is the largest of the brand from the board of the brilliant Chuck Paine. We bought her having happily sailed many miles in a Bowman 40. When we decided to buy a larger yacht only one make would do. This Bowman 48 has benefitted from a comprehensive and lengthy refit making her ready to take on extended cruising with 'everything done'. She has been set up for a couple to easily handle her on blue-water adventures. NEW: Paint, Engine rebuild, electronics, standing and running rigging, tanks, rib and outboard, staysail, cruising chute, anchor, anchor chain, anchor windlass, bow thruster, liferaft, headlinings, upholstery .... the list goes on, as did the bills! Unfortunately, unexpected commitments ashore have completely stopped our sailing plans. Robustly constructed GRP hull and deck with a 'Paine' keel. Hull topsides professionally painted in 2023 including epoxy coating prior to the topcoats. This was an aesthetic exercise. Photos taken prior and during process to verify integrity of hull prior to work. Now looking fabulous with blue cove line and matching blue boot-top. Deck and coachroof painted professionally in 2024 with epoxy coating prior to topcoats. Non-slip areas painted with grey Kiwi- Grip for excellent grip and easy of maintenance. This has provided a beautiful and robust finish in line with creating an expedition style yacht inspired by the look of Ovni / Garcia. All pilot house windows were removed with the frames being blasted and powder coated white. 10mm Acrylic ( 10x stronger than glass) in a light grey tint was installed by Jason Buckley, the contractor used by Pendennis Superyachts for their window installations. Aft Cockpit leading to wide side decks forward to a safe working foredeck with sail locker with watertight bulkhead beneath. New 2022 Rocna Anchor 40 (44kg) New 2022 100m of 10mm calibrated galvanised chain New 2024 Lofrans Tigres Horizontal 1500W anchor windlass Additional 80m of 10mm galvanised chain in chain locker Chain locker cleaned and painted 2024 Sail locker refurbished & re-plumbed 2022 S/S boarding ladder that fits either sidegate. Dorade boxes rebuilt expoxied and painted to fit on deck Deck organiser sheaves replaced 2024 The traditional cutter rig with a conventional fully battened mainsail reefed from the cockpit and headsails on self-furlers make for a gearbox of sails to suit all conditions that are easy to handle. As you would expect from the Bowman class everything is over engineered for safe blue-water cruising. The mast had a major service and upgrade in 2023/24.. too much to list.
