Listing Description

The Moody Eclipse 38 is a rare yacht. Unlike the popular Eclipse 33, only 24 of them were ever built, . It shares many of the advantages of that classic but with a lot more space and improved performance. With its interior helm it is possible to enjoy sailing in less than ideal conditions. It is unsurprisng that there are a number of these boats on the Scottish West Coast. However the shallow draft makes it possible to go through the French canals should you prefer more sunshine. She has been well looked after through her life and has benefitted from numerous upgrades and replacements over the years including in 2023 a new engine. This is the original Moody sales description. 'The deck layout is designed and styled so that the saloon area has excellent all-round visibility from both the interior helm station and the seating and dining areas. The Eclipse 38 has a headsail and inmast, furling systems and twin steering positions. The interior accommodation is laid out with two main sleeping cabins: the Owners stateroom forward and an aft guests cabin situated to starboard. Owners Heads compartment situated to port with a marine wc, hot & cold water system and shower. The main heads compartment to starboard is similarly equipped. The large, light and airy deck saloon has a raised seating area to port providing a U-shaped seating area. Galley to port" We bought the yacht from the previous owner who had sailed her from Plymouth for 14 years. He and the owners previous to her had clearly looked after her and spent money as and when needed. In recent years she has had a new engine 2023, new anchor winch 2023, new fridge 2023, new radar 2023 and a new furlex 2020, and a new thrust post under mast 2022. We have continued the improvements with a holding tank fitted 2024, davits 2024, new batteries 2024, new solar panel and controller 2024, etc. This winter the sprayhood has been replaced and a new UV strip fitted to the genoa. As a result Kasuku is in excellent order with little a new owner would need to do. We have only had Kasuku for 3 years but have enjoyed owning her. We have completed voyages to the South Coast twice and Holland once. However for various reasons we do not thing we will achieve taking her to Scotland as we had hoped. Consequently we have decided to downsize and let someone else take on her stewardship The design allows for wide side decks and an especially spacious foredeck. All lines are led aft allowing reefing to the main and the genoa from the cockpit. Even the cruising chute can be operated from the cockpit on its dedicated top down Karver furler once it is set up. 2 solar panels are fixed on and forward of the hatch garage. The cockpit has a complete tent or if required a small bimini for sunny days. A vast locker to port will take anything required with a smaller locker under the helmman's seat. At the stern there are davits which can be folded or removed entirely if required and a cradle for the liferaft. Double stainl
