Designed by Doug Peterson and built by Jeremy Rodgers it is less well known than earlier Contessa yachts. The 28 was more modern with an improved interior and moulded headlining, often considered an earlier rival to the Sadler 29. 'Elin' is a good example of her class. A recent upgrade (2018) saw the previous Volvo petrol engine replaced by an electric motor powered by 4 x 200Ah 12V Lithium Batteries giving a 48V dc power supply for the motor. This has resulted in a quieter, more reliable drive system. In calm conditions, the batteries can power the boat at 3.5kn for 6 hours (22A) or 4kn for 5 hours (30A). Utilising the portable petrol generator to supplement the battery power can extend these running times considerably She is competitively priced and would benefit from a certain amount of further upgrading.
